We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support our nursing team in delivering top-quality care and ensuring the health and well-being of our residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), you will work closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee and supervise nursing services within the facility. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership & Supervision: Assist the Director of Nursing in leading and managing the nursing department, including supervising and supporting nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs).
  • Staff Development: Assist in the hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluation of nursing staff. Promote an environment of professional growth and development.
  • Care Planning: Oversee and support the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents in accordance with their health needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to facility policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Resident Care Oversight: Regularly monitor the care provided to residents and ensure the highest standards of care are maintained, adjusting plans and protocols as necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure nursing practices meet all legal, regulatory, and licensing requirements, including conducting audits and preparing for state inspections.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., therapy, dietary, housekeeping) to ensure seamless and effective delivery of care.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of nursing policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective care for all residents.
  • Family Interaction: Act as a liaison between residents, families, and staff to ensure families are informed and involved in care planning.
  • On-Call Duties: Serve as the on-call nursing supervisor on a rotating schedule, assisting with emergent issues as needed.
  • Budgeting & Staffing: Assist with the management of nursing department budgets, staffing levels, and ensuring cost-effective, quality care.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN): Must have a valid RN license in the state of Minnesota.
  • Minimum Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid: Current CPR and First Aid certification, or must be obtained within a designated time frame after hire.
  • Continuing Education: Ongoing professional development and training in nursing leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and assist residents (up to 50 lbs) with mobility and activities of daily living.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and sit for extended periods of time during shifts.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and provide physical care when necessary.
  • Ability to handle exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to medical equipment, noise, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Ability to maintain mental and physical stamina during shifts.
  • Ability to provide physical care (e.g., assisting with transfers, wound care, etc.) as required.
