Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse at GlenOaks, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Resident Care Management: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care plans to ensure the health and well-being of residents.
- Health Monitoring: Monitor residents’ physical, emotional, and mental health by conducting assessments and reviewing vital signs, labs, and care progress.
- Administer Medications: Safely administer medications as prescribed, document medication administration, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Supervise Care Teams: Provide direction and oversight to nursing assistants and other healthcare team members to ensure residents receive the highest level of care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including care plans, progress notes, assessments, and any changes in residents' health.
- Coordinate Care: Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and update treatment plans as needed.
- Resident and Family Communication: Communicate effectively with residents and their families regarding care plans, progress, and any concerns.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and preferences of residents, ensuring that their rights are upheld in all aspects of their care.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, following established procedures and providing necessary care.
- Compliance: Ensure that all nursing practices comply with state regulations, facility policies, and safety protocols.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure that best practices are consistently followed.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN): Must hold a valid RN license through the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
- CPR and First Aid Certification: Required (or must be obtained within a designated time frame after hire).
- Bachelor’s Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, but not required.
- Continuing Education (CEUs): Must complete continuing education requirements as mandated by the state of Minnesota for license renewal.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, and assist residents (up to 50 lbs) with mobility and activities of daily living.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and sit for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively.
- Ability to perform medical procedures that may involve physical exertion.
- Must have the stamina to work in a healthcare setting for extended shifts.
- Ability to handle exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to noise, cleaning products, and other stimuli.
