We are currently seeking a Trained Medication Aide (TMA) to join our compassionate team and provide safe and effective medication administration to our residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Trained Medication Aide (TMA), your responsibilities will include:
- Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications to residents as directed by physicians, ensuring proper dosages, routes, and timing.
- Monitoring Residents: Observe residents before and after medication administration, reporting any side effects, reactions, or changes in condition to the supervising nurse.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document medication administration, including any changes to prescribed medications, reactions, and other relevant information in the resident’s medical record.
- Medication Storage: Ensure medications are stored properly and securely, following all state regulations and facility policies.
- Resident Care: Assist residents with daily activities, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity in a compassionate manner.
- Collaboration: Work closely with licensed nursing staff to ensure medication orders are followed and any changes in the residents’ health status are communicated promptly.
- Assistance with Treatments: Assist in the administration of treatments as directed by licensed nursing staff, as needed.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding medication administration and ensure the environment is clean, safe, and conducive to resident well-being.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Training: Successful completion of a State of Minnesota-approved Trained Medication Aide course.
- Certification: Must hold a current Trained Medication Aide (TMA) certification in the state of Minnesota.
- Experience: Experience working in long-term care or a healthcare facility is preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs to assist residents and handle medication supplies.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and administer medications with accuracy, including managing pill boxes, medication cups, and other tools.
- Comfortable with Sitting and Standing: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, particularly during medication administration or when interacting with residents.
- Assistance with Residents: Ability to assist with residents' mobility and activities of daily living, including transportation between locations if necessary.
- Work Environment: Ability to work in a healthcare environment that may involve exposure to medical equipment, medications, cleaning agents, and other healthcare-related supplies.
